Newspring’s After School Art Program

Newspring is adding art and design to the already innovative STEM curriculum. STEAM takes it to the next level by incorporating the artistic and design related skills and thinking processes. Students will learn top skills from the arts. This will include creativity, confidence, problem-solving, perseverance, focus, non-verbal communication, receiving constructive feedback, collaboration, dedication, and accountability. Each week we will learn a different style of art by exploring art history and multiple mediums using elements of art and principles of design.

The program is offered to children aged 8-18 years old. Each week, classes are instructed separately to age-appropriate groups.

Elementary

For students ages 8-11.

Class Days:  Monday and Wednesday
Class Times:  3:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.

The class will be every Monday and Wednesday for students in elementary school, ages 8 and up.

Secondary

For students ages 12-18.

Class Days:  Tuesday and Thursday
Class Times:  3:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.

The class will be every Tuesday and Thursday for students in middle school and high school.

Open Studio

For students ages 8-18.

Class Days:  Friday
Class Times:  3:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.

Open Studio will be every Friday! Students will apply what they learned for the week into an original art piece using whatever medium they prefer. The class will be a combination of elementary, middle, and high school students. The older students can then mentor the younger students and share their knowledge of art.

Newspring’s after school program empowers students by providing a safe and emotionally supportive environment for our students to thrive.
